About MU

MU, formerly known as Mothers’ Union, has been meeting at St Mark’s for over 60 years, but in the Sydney Diocese, for 125 years! MU is the biggest Mission in the world and has 3 members in the United Nations.

1)  Our mission statement is:

To be specially concerned with all that strengthens and preserves marriage and Christian family life.

2)  Our Aim:

To advance the Christian Religion in the sphere of marriage and family life.

Action:

1)    Visit over 1,100 mums and bubs at Wollongong Hospital. Give each a handmade gift, eg teddy bear, hat, bib, socks etc. together with a “Welcome to Baby” card, “Prayers for little Children” and a Luke’s Gospel. This is MISSION!

2)   Give financial support to missions overseas and at home e.g. 3 female workers are financed in parishes in the diocese, one being employed at the new Rail Church in Albion Park Rail.

3)   Make goods to be sold in the MU shop in St Andrew’s House, Sydney to help finance the above work.
